Dance Instructor “Helwa” (Betsey Flood) brings:

• More than 25 years performance experience on both coasts
• More than 20 years teaching experience—she knows how to bring students quickly up the learning curve
• Knows her stuff.  A former editor for Habibi Magazine, a global bellydance magazine, she knows what is myth and what is reality and shares interesting stories about the history of the dance, culture and each piece of class music used
• Uses her theater experience to help students improvise better and add passion to their dance
• Travels in the Middle East, studies with Egyptian instructors and teaches the dance movements and choreographies they really usethere, NOT American inventions
• FOR BEGINNERS, she offers an exciting sampler of different styles and music through a short, new choreography each class
• FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS she offers different new challenges each term—new movements, combinations and new choreographies, using props, finger cymbals and improvisation techniques. A number of Helwa’s advanced students are winning recognition throughout the Bay Area
